Initally, the name "Fake Your Death" is about starting over and moving on from the past. It's about learning from mistakes and using them to grow, however as we progress and change more meaning is attached to the name. Since the band's formation in 2000 there have been numerous lineup changes, but with each one the members evolved as people and musicians. Fake Your Death's entire existence is practically all based on DIY (do it yourself) principles. They do it all themselves, from booking shows, to recording. In 2002, they released their debut ep/demo entitled "It Happens." It was recorded, mixed and mastered by members of the band and all of the printing/duplicating was done by the band. The EP sold about five hundred copies with no outside promotion. Fake Your Death has gotten themselves booked at premiere venues such as Krome, Birch Hill and numerous concert halls all over New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They are looking to expand their horizons further out of state and plan on touring in the near future. Aside from getting booked on other shows, FYD has hosted live concert events. Most notably, "the Rawest Venue Festival" which took place in late summer 2004 and early summer 2005. For this all day event, the band booked 10 bands to play a half mile in the woods at a scenic over look using a generator to power the sound. The turnout was great considering the conditions the show was run under. For those who were there, they would know it was a special, intimate experience. The music that the band creates is a result of the collaboration of all of the members and their vast influences (metal, punk, hardcore, classical). The results are high energy diversified songs with good sing along parts and involved musicianship. FYD embraces fun at their live shows and feel that it just isn't fair if everyone in the venue isn't having a good time while they are playing, because they are having a blast every time. Fake Your Death has a full length coming out in December. Ten songs of death and rebirth out on Red Blade Records. The record release show is set for December 17th at Hamilton Street Cafe. The album will be pressed with artwork created by members of the band. If you come to the record release you get the cd for free upon the ten dollar entry fee!!! We hope to see you all there.
