In my opinion, some of the best moments of the show happen in those first ten or so minutes, and it's much more freeform and less rigid than the rest of the show's schedule. So I'd like to hear from someone in the know: Did they just not have time for it today (unlikely, but I'd love to believe it's true) or is it really gone for good? I think it's generally accepted that Attack of the Interview (or whatever it was called) was by far the worst and most boring of the clip shows. I mean, every once in a while a guest is interesting or did something worth noticing on the internet, but it seems like about 75% of the time, it's someone bouncing from show to show to promote their newest crap, be it a book or a new show on G4. I think I gagged when they made Sarah read that "Coming up on Star Trek" thing at the end of today's episode. For anyone keeping track: no new co-host, live only on East Coast, no more real Friday shows, Feed moved, and Top of the Show removed. I wonder what'll be left in about six months; a prerecorded 60-minute interview of a Star Trek producer every Wednesday? I'm obviously exaggerating, but I digress. Reply Quote Top Bottom skauff83 Level 4 Posts: 764 Joined: Jun 2005 Monday January 09, 2006 10:32 PM The "Cool Stuff" segment used to be one of the most enjoyable segments on the show, when they showed cool links and internet news of the day (this was back in the days where link dumps were plentiful on attack of the blog). This sort of thing actually grabbed my attention and made me want to tell my friends about what I saw on AOTS. Ever since they changed it over to using the part of the show as a platform to show mostly mediocre skits, or talk about things that aren't really that fascinating and I don't really care about, like some new movie trailor or whatever. Most interviews are annoyingly generic, with nothing really interesting that goes on in them (the suitcase thing with the one red paper clip guy was just stupid), and most of the segments that the show's come to be known for are getting killed off or just not being used to the extent that they once were. Very important. It sets the mood for the rest of the show; it is personable while staying informative. The idea of doing the entire show from the couch (or most of it) also confuses me, though I may get used to it by week's end. I have yet to decide what to do with the comments field. I thought about having the comments displayed blogroll-like down the sidebar with 48 x 48 pixel icons for users. Still mulling over the idea. I plan on releasing the code and stylesheet as soon as I am content with the overall design. Obvious inspiration for colors ala Flock with a blog-esque layout. I’ve done it again. I’ve discovered that MySpace is becoming an ever present topic on this blog. It’s not that I enjoy the service, or that I make use of the service to “network” with other individuals. I just hate the default profiles . So, I’ve started work on the above profile replacement. That’s the actual profile I plan on importing into MySpace. It’s a working page complete with the contacts list and basic MySpace functionality. A few DIV’s here, a little CSS there, and the obvious blue inspiration coming from Flock. I haven’t yet decided if I plan on adding the ‘comments’ field to the bottom of the page. I must admit that this is the first layout that I’ve started from scratch. That means made up classes and an unorganized HTML document. Who really cares though right?
