At then end of the long chain from idea to user there is a NEED a PROCEDURE/PROGRAM and a PRODUCT that will come from teh Need and the Procedure mergeing. Todays model is more like a train wreck. Sell the user on a NEED (hey you need a train) Make a PROCEDURE/PROGRAM (a big shinny train that goes 300 miles per hour) Stand the user in the trains path and tell them to catch it as it comes heeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrtling towards them.
