The Wacky Fortune Cookie Generator Now onto today's Christmas class party. I wasn't hyper today. I wasn't the usual. Four people asked me, "what's wrong?"...I don't know either. The weather? Cuz today was hot. Yup, a hot December day. >_< There was pizza, candy, cookies, cupcakes. Which means I should have been sugar high and hyper and crazier than usual. Four people asked me if I was sad or if there was something wrong. Umm...what? Yeah, everyone was really "woo yeah hyper blah blah" while I was ... normal. Which is so totally weird for me. Anyway, it was fun. Lots of sugary food, while "Mickey's Christmas Sing Alongs" played. The guys, being themselves, sang along to "Rudoplh the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Let It Snow"...off beat, off tune, yeah. Nonetheless it made me laugh because it was stupid-silly-funny. I got a Star Wars poster, lots of candy, hot cheetos, and a cute clear icy-like snowman ornament with its scarf...so cute. I appreciate it all really. Jessica got from her Secret Santa aka her ex boyfriend aka the rich guy with the big forehead...a $75-$85gift. $45 worth of two gift cards for Borders (*wants*) a really cuddly, soft teddy bear, and that Godiva aka expensive chocolate. This is proof that he still loves her. LOVES her. Either that or obsession. Overall, it was a pretty okay Christmas party, despite me avoiding Zach all day. Okay. We had our our Student Council Christmas party yesterday. It didn't even last an entire hour, but whatever. My Secret Santa, Weston, got me a $30 video game. Which I am very thankful for nonetheless. ^_^ We had pizza, 7-8 sparkling ciders, coke, and cookies. The pizza was really good, but the slices were skinny. Zach had seven slices. I though that was a lot, but Jaime said "That's nothing!". Zach's skinny, but Jaime's...um, more on the round-ish side. Ciara and Claudia got high on five Dr. Peppers (they shared. Thankfully) and finished one and a half bottles of sparkling cider. Then our teacher told them that Dr Pepper is actually mostly made of prune juice. Yuck. And both of them had to go to basketball practice after the party, which is kind of stupid. They were both high, laughing at something funny---that ended five minutes ago. Their (strict) coach got mad at them during practice because Ciara literally ate the ground: she fell and she has some big scratches and bruises. But she was laughing so hard. Good? Bad? Indifferent? I'm not sure where I stand on this right now. In one way, I can see the benefit for a band who wants to get thier name out there, but at the same time, it seems so ingenuine. I'd just like to hear what everyone else has to say about it. Most of them asked me to be thier friend and then I never heard from them. It was getting to the point where it was too much trouble to search for the people I wanted to talk to over all the clutter. That and if I did get a bulletin they cycled so fast I didn't see most of them. My point being, if I'm in a band and trying to make an impression, whoring is not a good impression. Publicity is one thing. I'm an advertising major, trust me I know about publicity. But if your going to add a ton of people put a little research into it. Find people who for one already like your style of music and ask them personally to check you out and add you if they like. Don't put up a bulletin with your "add" link on it and expect other people to do your dirty work for you. Why the hell would I want to support you when you can't even take the time to genuinely ask me for my support yourself. You don't see Hershey's taking time in their commercials to push Dr. Pepper's product. It's one thing if it comes straight from the source, or it is a close recomendation. But this hey this group asked me to post this so they can get as many adds as possible bullshit is stupid. Fuck you! Grow some balls and find your own damn fans. Bill personally asked me to be a friend of his and LoNero so I checked out the site and added you guys. One because I liked the music. Two because some guy all the way in California took the time to find me, go to my page and personally request me. I guess it can be tempting for some, but like Britney said here, do your research, find your own fans. You Rock Britney!!!! Thanks to all of you for supporting us the way you do. It means so much to the four of us that there are people like you who love music as art. The way it should be. The posts you folks put here on the forum are often topics of conversation when we get together for rehearsals. Whenever we see clubs giving preference to cover or "tribute" bands, or people telling us "you'll never get anywhere without a singer", we look at the comments on our MySpace profiles, fan emails, forum posts and especially meeting people at our shows and are reminded that we are doing something that is touching people.
