You know the MTV show Pimp My Ride where you get your broken down car all fixed up? Now switch the car for a woman and you have an idea of what this contest is about. Yes, Im serious. Similar to the story Vanessa reported on back in December about Clear Channels The Breast Christmas Ever, this (Clear Channel-owned) station is giving away extensive plastic surgery to the winner. Check out some of the lovely language from the contest website: Our top 10 finalists include a mother of 3, a bride hoping to fill out her wedding dress, a girl who used to be hot, and one whos been wishing for bigger tits! Vote for your favorite!!!! And dont you just love their artwork? A Feministing reader let me know about this, and shes been diligently trying to get the station to stop the contest. She hasnt had much luck. But she was able to get the Program Directors email address: duane@kdge.com . So make sure to let him know how you feel about being pimped. The winner is set to be announced this Friday morning, so theres not any time to waste on this one Posted by Jessica at March 1, 2005 04:24 PM Comments You don't have to tell me twice. But instead of yelling at this dipshit, I tried a different approach: the patented "never make a woman feel bad about sex" argument. Text of my e-mail to the clueless redneck below: "Duane, we have a problem. The problem is this: you have betrayed straight men. I know you think this "pimp my ride" thing is funny, and I'm sure some of your beer buddies and short-sighted listeners are telling you that it is. But in the long run, you are hurting all of us. I'm also sure that lots of women have written to tell you that the contest is offensive, and that you ignore them. That's a mistake. Here's why: Women are the pool of potential sex partners for straight men. You're pissing in the pool. Did any woman you ever dated ever ask you, "does this make me look fat?" You must know that the answer is always, "no." You may not have thought about why the answer is always "no" beyond the very superficial. The answer, Duane, is that if you make her feel bad about herself, she's going to shut down and stop wanting to get naked and have sex. This contest you are running is telling every woman, everywhere, that they need to be chopped into components and replaced with better parts. You're telling them all that they're not hot, that they do look fat in that dress. You're making them all self-conscious, you're making them all not like themselves. You're making them all uptight and anti-sex. And that doesn't just hurt them. That hurts me. And you. And all straight men. Duane, you're pissing in the pool that all of us swim in. Please stop. Call this stupid thing off. Thomas" Posted by: Thomas at March 1, 2005 04:48 PM Thomas, I think you have a good point, but it does well to remember that the target audience--men between 18 and 21--given the choice between demonstrating their greater social status over women or dating them will usually choose the former. Sad, but true. Posted by: Amanda at March 1, 2005 08:57 PM Not all, mind you, but men that age are still being homo-socialized and, at that age, their desire to show off to friends at the expense of women will often overshadow any other concerns. Posted by: Amanda at March 1, 2005 08:58 PM I kind of like Thomas' take on letter-writing. God knows they're just going to ignore or mock any "feminazi" letters. Posted by: annejumps at March 1, 2005 10:21 PM *sigh* Stupid and disgusting, I agree. Thomas' letter made me chuckle, though; good job on writing a letter that's about as far from "feminazism" as possible while still making your point! Speaking of Texas, my friend posted on her xanga (http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=Pollymorph) about a particularly ignorant display by the Young Conservatives of Texas going on at UT tomorrow afternoon. I thought a few of you might be interested. Posted by: Ms. Niki at March 1, 2005 11:16 PM Amanda: I hear you. If it was easy to reach these guys, we'd be living in a very different world. I don't expect them to have a social conscience -- that's why I didn't take the "your mothers and sisters" tack. But I do think they can hear enlightened self-interest -- if not the first time, then maybe the tenth. Eventually, maybe they'll seriously consider that the reason women are uptight, shut down, game-playing and unavailable to them is because women can't trust them. Posted by: Thomas at March 2, 2005 07:31 AM Perhaps part of the reason this attitude toward women is prevalent is because of certain organiziations attempts to legitimize the porn and sex industry. When they promote porn as legitimate art, and prostitution and stripping as legitimate employment, what did you expect to happen? Once again, a case can be made that the policies of cerain womens rights organizations has backfired. Porn, and the sex industry, has directly led to women being unhappy with their self image. I know, I know, "keep the government out of the bedroom!". The sad truth is, without government restrictions, the pimps, perverts, and those who view woman as objects for sexual use and not as people, would corrupt our society completely. If you don't have big breasts(or a big penis with long lasting erections, viagra)you are not a successful/competitive human being. Lets face it, sex sells. Posted by: tfreridge at March 2, 2005 10:54 AM Tfreridge: I oppose more than just the government in the bedrooms. I oppose the repression of sexuality. Now, I have plenty of problems with porn. I don't consume mainstream porn because I don't want women to be economically pressured to surgically alter perfectly good bodies. (That's among other things. I have lots of problems with mainstream porn.) But it's fairly clear where you're going: that you think our society is on a slide to full acceptance of sex for pleasure, promiscuity, BDSM, polyamory, homosexuality and bisexuality, gender-fuck, etc. I am not against that. In fact, that transformation is my mission in life. As to how this negative body image crap affects my master plan for universal sexual liberation, see my letter to Duane. Posted by: Thomas at March 2, 2005 11:13 AM I'm sorry Thomas, I disagree with your fundemental assumptions. "Women are the pool of potential sex partners for straight men." This statement subtly objectifies the "fairer" sex, and reduces them to having only one purpose in this life......to fulfill mens sexual needs. "In fact, that transformation is my mission in life." While having a life mission to make it easier for you to get laid is refreshingly direct, I think it is misguided to believe that sexuality is the end all, be all of human existence. Your statement seems slightly hedonistic to me. I believe that ANY unmoderated activity, taken to extremes, will corrupt us. This includes sex. There are studies now showing that pornography has the similar effects as drug/gambling addictions. "You're making them all uptight and anti-sex." It is a little arrogant to believe that a man can make a huge difference in most womens self-image. Self-image, like many other things, is pretty much defined during childhood and teen years. Over a long time, say 10-20 years, that image can be changed for a man or woman. It seems to me that successful relationships are the ones that are in agreement with each others existing self image. We are like a bunch of Narcisists. It seems to me that in this day and age, society could do with a little sexual restraint. I think our disagreement stems from a difference in world-view and philosophy. Like you said on another post, the world is changing. However, there is neocon backlash in America today, and it stems from the obviously self-destructive results of liberal (baby-boomer 60's,70's,80's) philosphies, taken too far. To fail to recognize a happy medium, or moderate path, is to concede the argument to the opposition in this day and age. Posted by: tfreridge at March 2, 2005 12:33 PM Tfreridge: You're right about one thing. We see the world very differently. So differently, in fact, that I see little common ground between us. There are certainly Christian male feminists who think that constraining sexuality is a necessary component of a better world. If you want to see what that view looks like, go find Hugo Schwyzer's blog (maybe on Ampersand's blogroll? or over at Mousewords?) That is not a view I share. Further, talking about sexuality in terms of liberation from restrictive social norms is not something I do to get laid -- though I think that's an effective pitch to non-feminist straight guys. It's much more than that. I believe sexual shame and restriction are core components of partiarchy. I've got a chisel, and I'm taking them apart one day at a time. If you don't agree with my project, that's your right. Stand clear so you don't get hit with flying rock. Posted by: Thomas at March 2, 2005 12:56 PM Thomas says, "I believe sexual shame and restriction are core components of partiarchy." I know we are hijacking this thread but I find this a facinating statement. At its heart there are two very different meanings. There is no doubt that oppression in the name of patriarchal religions (muslim, jewish, christian) occurs. They traditionaly only support sex between man and woman married in the church and classify all other behaviors as sin. This DEFINATELY helped contribute to classifying women as second class citizens in the past in the US, and currently in many places around the world. However, there is a subtle misogynist undertone to the statement. You infer that without male oversight, women in general would be promiscuous and without shame in their sexuality and behaviour. The implication being that men are imposing a false morality on women and that somehow a womans sexuality is more "natural" or "free". I think many woman would disagree with you. This is a subtle sexism. Do you think this plastic surgery craze is driven more by competition among women, or by the perception that men will find them more attractive? You may want to watch out for what you dismantle with that chisel........ Posted by: tfreridge at March 2, 2005 02:37 PM Wow, I'm actually going to agree with Thomas ... "Women are the pool of potential sex partners for straight men." ... Seriously, if you're a straight man and don't view women as potential sex partners, you need to have your reflexes if not your pulse checked. Sexuality, next to eating and breathing, is our most primal urge. It becomes sexist when you only view women as potential sex partners or sex objects and nothing else. I personally won't even date a woman unless she is a productive member of society. Just my preference. An example, I have a female friend who is quite attractive and well-endowed. So much so, she causes men to fall over. She never dresses suggestively (she's quite conservative), but she still has this problem with men speaking to her chest and not to her face. I of course quipped in that for the first three years I knew her, I had no clue what she looked like (it was a joke). It's a natural thing for guys to notice these things. If we didn't, the population would plummet. I asked her if she thought I never noticed. She replied she had never thought about it because I treat her with respect and I don't lear. I expect a hell of a lot more out of a woman than a nice butt or great boobs. Please be able to carry a conversation. Please have your own opinions. Please don't bow to me. It's insulting to yourself and to me. My God, most of the women I am attracted to are feminists and they can't stand me because of some of my more conservative views. Now, as for this contest, big deal. I find it ironic that "choice" is such a buzz word in feminist circles, but when a woman "chooses" to take part in something like this contest that is viewed as sexist (and it is), they find themselves in violation of feminist dogma. Does it objectify and promote unreal expectations of women? YES!!! But if a woman doesn't have the sense of self worth to realize she is a beautiful person for who she is, that's her issue. I have only been adding messages to this forum for a short time, but I would say it is filled with women who are sure of themselves and have healthy levels of confidence. Not everyone is like that. While I don't think that women should ever have plastic surgery, to some of them changing things about themselves to more closely fit the perceived ideal and attract a mate is important. Likewise, I know plenty of men who compromise their lives and beliefs to attract a female mate. Hell, I've known guys who have feigned their interest in the feminist cause to get a woman. I think it's all stupid, but I understand why they do it. Posted by: Shawn at March 2, 2005 03:38 PM Tfreridge: I want to free women from patriarchal rules about how they use their sexuality. A bunch of constraints that call women sluts and sinners for sexual exploration are, in my view, the kind of patriarchal rules I'm aiming at. What women do with more freedom is not my call to make. Some may be celibate, some may choose to be much more active than our society accepts, and most will likely find a comfort level in between. My gut tells me that women, given the choice, will have on the aggregate more partner sex if they are free of social opprobrium. If I'm wrong, that's okay too. I reject out of hand the notion that it is sexist or misogynist to speculate that, free of the social construct of "slut," women will want, and will have, more partner sex. You said this: "You infer that without male oversight, women in general would be promiscuous and without shame in their sexuality and behaviour." I think this is the crux of the diagreement. You conclude, as I understand you, that freed from patriarchy, women should not be "promiscuous and without shame." But on my account, the absence of patriarchy means _by_definition_ that women would be "without shame" in their sexuality, whether they choose no partners, one partner or many. The assumption explicit in your comment is that there is something to be ashamed of in one's sexual conduct, that shame has a proper place. I don't think shame has a proper place in sex. I think that adults ought to be free to choose any sexual partners they want, without shame. I focus on women's sexuality because there's a lot more social constraint on it than on men's. Look, obviously, you have some idea of what sexual morality looks like outside of patriarchy -- of what women "should" and "shouldn't" do. What is it? Posted by: Thomas at March 2, 2005 04:01 PM "I want to free women from patriarchal rules about how they use their sexuality." My hero! Posted by: stephen at March 4, 2005 03:44 AM Contests like this will exist as long as... women are willing to participate in them. If they got ne responses, it would all be over pretty quick. Patriachal rules? How about greed? Being willing to make a spectacle of yourself to get a free boob job? Corgan is creating some of the most engaging music of his career. The low-key closer, Strayz, summarizes the work thusly: You know Im true/Wasnt born to follow. -- Jason Pettigrew, ALTERNATIVE PRESS, August 2005 (five stars, highest rating) "Corgan's lyrics and aching whine convey the heart and psyche in an agonizing struggle to decipher the past and confront fears. Bold, eccentric and personal...Corgan devotees will warm to its idiosyncratic charms." -- Edna Gundersen, USA Today, 6/20/05 ...tinged by the idea that trauma holds the promise of transformation. Let it sink in over several listens, and its broken, beautiful pieces fall into place, its hopefulness starts to emerge. -- Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune, 6/19/05 "...an often bracing extension of the sweeping, striving rock and emotional vulnerability that made Corgan a beacon of alternative rock in the '90s. Here Corgan takes his sonic signatures--the blend of swoon and snarl, the high-pitched whine, the grandly melancholic harmonies and progressions--and adds a big dose of electronics, staking out a quasi-Goth territory with echoes of brisk New Order, burbling Peter Gabriel and shimmering Brian Wilson. The singer negotiates this terrain with his emotional antennae set on super-sensitive, bringing high drama to expressions of longing for connection and salvation. There's a moment or two of alarm and urgency, but less of the rage that colored the Pumpkins' music. In its place, Corgan summons a liturgical grandeur that makes this an almost religious embrace." -- Richard Cromelin, Los Angeles Times, 6/19/05 "...he has crafted his most distinctive and consistent music, picking up where Adore left off by pairing digital programming with wonderful washes of ethereal guitar a la the Cocteau Twins or My Bloody Valentine, and nicely framing melodies that remain anthemic and insanely infectious...With lyrical heartfelt declarations such as, "You don't know what it's like to love somebody the way I love you" and "I'm ready, ready for love," The Future Embrace is partly a journal of heartbreak and partly an optimistic personals ad announcing that its creator is ready to move forward and commit...[he is]...just an artist expressing what all of us feel, and doing it better than most." -- Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun Times, 6/19/05 "...brilliant first solo disc..." -- Trevor Kelley, The Stranger (Seattle), 7/14/05 Corgans dogged pursuit of infinite sadness still beguiles. -- Matt Diehl, Interview Magazine, July 2005 "...unquestionably beautiful, truthful and transcending..." -- Austin Powell, Daily Texan, 6/30/05 "...an enveloping wash of electronics and six-string soar over which the often-dour star sings the most hopeful lyrics of his career..." -- Ben Wener, Orange County Register, 7/14/05 "Employing his poetic muse as well as his skills as a musician and producer, Corgan created a richly layered album awash in keyboards that explores religion, aging and personal growth through such songs as All Things Change, The Camera Eye, Walking Shade and a beautiful version of the Bee Gees To Love Somebody. The album is like a musical extension of his book of poems, Blinking With Fists, which became a New York Times best seller." -- Gene Stout, Seattle Post-Intellegencer, 7/15/05 The albums opening salvo, All Things Change, is a declarative rocker enveloped in subdued electronics, while his moody take on the Bee Gees To Love Somebody conjures the coiled angst, angular tone and aching coolness of his old band at its very best. -- Ken Taylor, Wire, July 2005 "...trading in his '70s-metal-guitar onslaught for something more subdued but no less forceful. The highlight is an odd, electronically bent cover of the Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody. -- Aidin Vazira, San Francisco Chronicle, 6/19/05 "...some deliciously dark rockers..." -- Sandra Barrera, Los Angeles Daily News You dont merely hear TheFutureEmbrace, you touch it as well. Your senses tingle alive on All Things Change, a watery cascade of keyboards that washes over the listener to a metallic synthdrum backbeat. -- Tom Lanham, Illinois Entertainer, 6/05 "Corgan offers one of his most impassioned vocals in Now (and Then) and saves the guitar-rocking single Walking Shade'...The album's most unforgettable track is Corgan's none too subtle, loving homage to David Bowie, Pretty, Pretty Star. The guitars ripple, the effects are dream-weaving..." -- Kevin OHare, Newhouse News Service, 6/17/05 On The Future Embrace, Corgan taps into a twisted sadness and strangeness, ?with glimpses of hope and beauty. The CD is nearly always compelling, with The ?Camera Eye and Now (and Then) among the highlights....if this is Corgan's future, we'll gladly embrace it." -- Kevin C. Johnson, St. Louis Post Dispatch, 6/21/05 "Billy Corgan gets a really good buzz going with the techno-toned yet humanistic TheFutureEmbrace. -- Jonathan Takiff, Philadelphia Daily News, 6/21/05 TheFutureEmbrace is an eclectic and engaging album, including the requisite Jimmy Chamberlin appearance on the poppy and propulsive DIA and a tortured souls summit between Corgan and The Cures Robert Smith (To Love Somebody). Best of all is the punishing Mina Loy (M.O.H.), in which Corgan asks, over the albums best riff, Can I give my old heart to you? Hes hard to refuse. -- Adam McKibbin, Outburn, July 2005 While the lyrics are more introspective and the music more electronic than what we've come to expect from the Pumpkins or his most recent project, Zwan, thankfully Corgan's distinctive vocals and grungy guitar riffs are ubiquitous. The mostly upbeat songs, highlighted by All Things Change, Mina Loy (M.O.H.) and A100 effortlessly flow together. -- Katy Kroll, Billboard, 6/21/05 What people are saying about TheFutureEmbrace Tour... ...a dynamic solo debut Monday night at Webster Hall where he looked good and sounded better...Corgan's guitar work provided the core constant, twisting from crisp leads into a crush of distortion." -- Dan Aquilante, New York Post, 6/29/05 "...his vision was compelling...['A100']...delved into industrial rock with a thudding kick drum and rumbling synth-noises. Sorrows (In Blue) combined the two approaches: cold and menacing, yet slow and soulful. -- Rafer Guzman, Newsday, 6/30/05 "Despite its more personal and intimate tone, the new music never slumped into mere melancholy or self-pity. Instead, it offered a more nuanced version of the turmoil that has always driven Corgan's best songs. While most of The Future Embrace material performed at the Vic hewed closely to the album arrangements, from the eggshell beauty of Pretty, Pretty Star to the sleek New Order-like drive of Walking Shade, the guitarist veered into a darker territory with a handful of covers." -- Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune, 7/6/05 "...the music achieved a grandeur that sounded harsh and romantic simultaneously, all without borrowing the conventions that worked with his previous bands." -- Mark Guarino, Chicago Daily Harold, 7/6/05 "...one of the most original and challenging pieces of rock theater to come through town in years." -- Bill White, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 7/20/05 "...an evening where artist and fan explored the unknown together." -- Katy Kroll, Billboard.com, 7/12/05 "...a scintillating set...Playing against a high tech screen lit with sequenced vibrant colorful graphics, the quartet kicked off with an utterly spectacular A100, where Corgan's plangent wailing guitar easily dominated the heady keys and pulsing percussion. The thuggish beat and fuzzy bass of I'm Ready brought that euphoria down to the dance floor level. DIA matched a driving beat with gorgeous vocal harmonies, as Strawberry added rich undertones to Corgan's scratchy sweet moans. Walking Shade was nothing short of an ooh-baby moment, as Corgan strapped on a black Flying V and let rip with big squalls." -- Linda Laban, Boston Heralnd, 7/1/05 "Corgan pierced the pulsing backdrop with plenty of intricate, intriguing guitar solos (the glissandos imparted on A100 and The Camera Eye fused Tom Verlaine's icy fluidity with Corgan's own free-associative ardor)... -- David Sprague, Daily Variety, 6/29/05 "...an undeniably sweet and unaffected undercurrent to songs such as the tender opener Now (and Then), a ballad about commitment, and the crystalline pop of All Things Change, in which Corgan successfully weaved multiple hooks...Corgan sounded as if he was born to voice the despair of the Bee Gees' To Love Somebody with a symphony of minor-key synths behind him." -- Patrick Berkery, Philadelphia Inquirer, 6/27/05 "...a finely executed musical departure for Corgan..." -- Kevin C. Johnson, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 7/8/05 "...This show, with its myriad of color and feeling, was one that will be sure to linger in the audience's collective memory." -- Madeline Virbasius-Walsh, The Sentimentalist, 7/8/05 ps. just so we're all clear... hateful postings, gratuitous spam, and comments that cause the page to layout funky will be deleted. if someone is trolling the boards, trying to get a rise out of people, it's best to just ignore them... ok? ok. But someone saying you should be batman a couple posts down got me thinking. The video could have kicked ass if Billy was running around with a batman mask and cape - saving darcy(damsel in distress) from james(pick any villan, penguin wouldve been funny). add some "booms" and "pows" and i think it couldve been a winner. anyways, that was almost 10 years ago, oh well Temporarily Crestfallen Jan 10, 2006 06:21 PM Good Billy sir, it is way past new year, and we are still waiting for your news...do tell soon!!! like, now would be a good time... Every time I listen to something other than your music I tend to get a bit depressed and bored with whatever it is. Then I listen to your music and I feel comforted and replenished. Nothing compares to your awesome music. Every now and then I like to listen to some other stuff, but no music will ever be as great as yours. You are simply the greatest musician there ever was and ever will be. Thru The Eyes of Ruby Jan 10, 2006 05:03 PM MLK Jr. Day is coming upon us...the perfect time for a suprise announcement huh BC? It's still day 10 and Team Exodus makes plans to head to Milwaukee and try again in Lake Forest the next day. Milwaukee is Greg's hometown and he has numerous connections there. Meanwhile, Team Cake heads back to Wrigley Field for more punishment. Things don't go any better and they do a little squabbling amongst themselves. They head for a nearby restaurant/bar where they find food, drink, and people willing to help their cause. Charles gets an itch to try the swimming medley again, so they procure a ride to Northwestern to try at their pool. The PR guy there was nominally helpful, but couldn't get any help from either of the coaches to open the pool for them. So they try the Bears again and find success, if they're willing to wait until tomorrow. They stay with a friend of a friend of a friend of Charles (I think) and get a ride for the next day. Team Exodus enjoys Milwaukee at night as Greg shows them around town. There is much merriment and steam blowing. Stacey shows us her moves again and the camera is lovin' it. Day 11, bright and early, Team Cake heads to Lake Forest to attempt to catch some passes. Fortunately for them Team Exodus is not there. They're not because... They're in Milwaukee having a rough morning. Finally they head off for Lake Forest to finish what they started yesterday. Team Cake is in the practice facility getting ready. Team Exodus is waiting outside. Chris Chandler is a little confused, but apparently it's first come first served. Warmup goes OK, except for Annmarie, who couldn't catch a cold. Chris is pessimistic about her chances of catching one for real. Now it's time to catch them for real - three chances for each team member, and each team member must catch it. Charles leads off and he catches one in good style. Kristin also caught hers on the first try. That left it up to Annmarie. The pass is up... looks good... it goes zinging by. Looks like she didn't see that one. But she caught the second try and they celebrate like they won the Super Bowl or something. But they haven't won anything yet; indeed, they haven't even finished this task. So they interrupt their celebration to let Kerri catch her pass. She does, and they continue celebrating. The two teams are tied 7-7. Team Exodus receives the smack call and they're disheartened, especially Stacey, who muffed the passes the previous day. So they go for their backup plan - on to the practice rink for the Blackhawks, where they will try to make a goal from center ice. The manager was unhelpful at first but slowly came around. There are others on the ice, so they wait and wait and wait. Finally they get their chance. Stacey is still down about her previous failure, and she's first to go here. The shot is long enough but she hooked it wide. Now she feels worse. Eric hits one that looks good but slams into the goalpost. That doesn't count. It's Greg's turn and his shot is through. Exodus takes the lead at 8-7. Team morale gets a boost. Elsewhere in metro Chicago, the Cake & Bakers get a ride to the train station, where a guy from England buys them tickets back to Chicago. Jolly good that. They take a short walk to Union Station, where the plan is to take Amtrak to St. Louis. One small problem - they need $119 to buy the tickets and they only have about an hour to do it. Charles keeps his eye on the money while it is collected and gets the #2 line of the line (I used #1 for this summary title) - "I got my girls walking the street". Yes you do Charlie. They collect their money and buy the tickets. They think the train ride is nice and relaxing. Team Exodus heads to Milwaukee again, but this time they have toll booth troubles. They get through them and try the free throw task. Dan Gadzuric is in town and agrees to keep score. Stacey's the leadoff person again. She makes her first one, then misses the next two. Oh, get on with it and go to the next person, shall we? But wait - she makes one, two, three, four, five, six in a row. Last shot - can she do it? Slo-mo... yes! Now Team Exodus is up 9-7. They head to Greg's parents' house, where Dad agrees to let son drive the car to Minneapolis. Team Cake arrives in St. Louis in the evening and needs to go to Chesterfield. Fortunately they met a helpful frat guy on the train who agrees to take them there. They go to Kerri's uncle's house. Larry is cool and Kristin is glad to see a mellower side to Kerri. The calendar turns to day 12. Team Exodus tries the basketball medley in Minneapolis. Loren Woods is there to score. The main court at the Target Arena is set up for the WNBA, which is no good, so they head to the practice facility. The team remarks that warmup goes well. But how will they do when the pressure is on? Doug gives it a good try but falls short. Stacey and Eric also try but fail. It's all in Greg's hands. He gives it his all, but couldn't do it. No Subaru for them and now they're stuck. NEXT: Team Cake goes to meet with the Rams, Exodus thinks about playing Twister, Cake encounters bad weather in Kansas City, and one team finds themselves in South Dakota. "RE: Argghhhh" Hi, everyone, this is my first post, I just wanted to let you all know the board is awesome, and it's great to hear perspectives from both audience and competitors. Anyway Yes, I was very curious about your driving status during episode 6. Didn't anyone else know how to drive? Also, the run-in with the tollbooth guy could have resulted in a real mess--that's my guess for the huge twist. By the way, the show kind of made that scene confusing--can you tell us what happened? "RE: BB&D episode 6 summary: I Don't Want to be the Whore Anymore" Yeah - ESPN.com goofed up. I called the production company yesterday and they weren't happy about the picture on the site. No team CAKE isn't even close to being out of it. This is as tight as can be, and south dakota is a long state full of people who have no clue what reality TV (or cable for that matter) is. As for why/how I was driving - well, it was driving my roomates car that we borrowed so I felt that I should be the driver...conveineintly, a duplicate Wisconsin liscence of mine was in his car...wow how did that happen? The twist has nothing to do with the toll booth. I seriously had no clue what that guy was saying, but I knew he wasn't commenting on how nice he thought my shirt was. He wanted me to pull over at the state troopers station off the freeway...fat chance. Well, it wasn't my car - what the hell did I care...my roomate is concerned however (it's OK, I bought him a case of beer - Thus - the twist lies with...well, I'll just wait another week to fill ya'll in. greg Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top mnsandy 2 desperate attention whore postings DAW Level: "American Cancer Society Spokesperson" 08-14-03, 11:29 PM (EST) 7. "RE: BB&D episode 6 summary: I Don't Want to be the Whore Anymore" Does the big twist have anything to do with playing Twister with our new Governor? Mr. Pawlenty went along with that? You know Jesse (old Gov) never would've. Great to see you in Mpls - at last a real show came to our place! Just a couple questions - When were you in Mpls? And are you able to have any contact with any local media when you visit cities? Just wondering - because there was no local mention regarding BBD2 team being in town and I wonder if you got ahold of a local sports (like KFAN) radio station that would broadcast information - such as need money, need meals, or need place to stay - I'd have to think that the locals would come through for you. Just a note - Loren Woods is no longer a T-Wolf (was he a nice guy - he seemed very accomodating). Also why didn't you go back the next day to try that bb task again? I love this show - can't believe it is so short and put on at such a horrible time (poker is in prime time???) Can't wait till the continuation next week! "RE: BB&D episode 6 summary: I Don't Want to be the Whore Anymore" The twist does have something to do with playing twister...thats about all I can say right now. Oh, let's see...when were we in Minneapolis - well best I can remember it was around May 10th-ish. We aren't necessarily restricted from contacting local media...course, we really didn't think aobut it much either. We never kept much of a time schedule - we just needed to get places, and we ARE resticted from setting things up. For example - I couldn't call a station and say "Hi, we're doing this race (blah, blah, blah) and we need people to feed us etc.." we can't set things up that way. As for Loren Woods...very cool guy. Genuinely nice and willing to help. He was a fan of the show...which helped. Why didn't we go back the next day? well the twist will explain that a little. Also - and you may have noticed this, the last phone call we made to team CAKE was following the completion of task 8. After that phone calls stop. So we have no clue how the other team is progressing...staying in Minnesota another nite would've been a waste of time...trust me. g Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top Lock | Archive | Remove Lobby | Topics | Previous Topic | Next Topic Select another forum Lobby SurvivorBlows.com Message Board Forums (Conference) |--Survivor Fanatic Forum (Protected) |--Survivor Basher Forum (Protected) |--Survivor Book Forum (Protected) |--Survivor Spoilers Forum (Protected) |--SurvivorMarket Forum (Public) |--Survivor 6 Spoiler/Speculation Forum (Protected) |--Spoiler Island Fantasy Game Forum (Public) |--Survivor 8 Spoilers Forum (Protected) The Amazing Race Message Board Forums (Conference) |--The Amazing Race Fanatics Forum (Protected) |--The Amazing Race Basher Forum (Protected) |--The Amazing Race Spoiler/Speculation Forum (Protected) Big Brother Message Board Forums (Conference) |--Big Brother Fanatic Forum (Protected) |--Big Brother Bashers Forum (Protected) |--Big Brother Live Feed Updates And Spoilers (Protected) Other Television Shows (Conference) |--The Apprentice Forum (Protected) |--The Bachelor / The Bachelorette Forum (Protected) |--The Casino Forum (Protected) |--For Love Or Money Forum (Protected) |--Joe Schmo Forum (Protected) |--Last Comic Standing Forum (Protected) |--Next Action Star Forum (Protected) |--Outback Jack Forum (Protected) |--The Real World / Road Rules Forum (Protected) |--The Simple Life (Protected) |--Starting Over Forum (Protected) |--Other Reality TV Shows Forum (Protected) |--Non-Reality Television Shows Forum (Protected) Off Topic (Conference) |--The Help Forum (Protected) |--Off-Topic Forum (Protected) |--Story Competitions Forum (Protected) American Idol Message Board Forums (Conference) |--American Idol General Discussion Forum (Protected) |--American Idol Individual Contestant and Judge Discussion Forum (Protected) FindTheMole.com Message Board Forums (Conference) |--The Mole Clues & Spoilers Forum (Protected) |--The Mole General Discussion Forum (Protected) TheOsbournesSucks.com Message Board Forums (Conference) |--The Osbournes Everything Forum (Protected) TemptationIslandSucks.com Message Board Forums (Conference) |--Temptation Island Everything (Protected) Other Inactive Shows (Conference) |--America's Next Top Model Forum (Protected) |--Beg, Borrow, & Deal (Protected) |--Boy Meets Boy Forum (Protected) |--Cupid Forum (Protected) |--Fame Forum (Protected) |--Joe Millionaire Forum (Protected) |--Forever Eden Forum (Protected) |--Mad Mad House Forum (Protected) |--My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance Forum (Protected) |--Paradise Hotel Forum (Protected) |--Playing It Straight Forum (Protected) |--Todd TV Forum (Protected) |--Average Joe Forum (Protected) RealityTVWorld Blowie Awards (Conference) |--RealityTVWorld Blowie Awards Discussion Forum (Protected) |--2003 RealityTVWorld Blowie Awards Nomination Forum (Protected) BootCampBites.com Message Board Forums (Conference) |--Boot Camp Rant/Rave Forum (Protected) |--Boot Camp Spoiler/Speculation Forum (Protected) LoveCruiseSinks.com Message Board Forums (Conference) |--Love Cruise Everything (Protected) Push-Nevada.net.com Message Board Forums (Conference) |--Push, Nevada Clue & Hint Forum (Protected) |--Push, Nevada General Discussion Forum (Protected) Inactive Forums (Conference) |--Survivor II: The Australian Outback Forum (Protected) |--BlowsVivor Forum (Protected) |--Cornertime Forum (Public) |--2002 RealityTVWorld Blowie Award Nomination Forum (Protected) |--September Eleven Forum (Protected) |--OLD The Amazing Race Basher Forum (Protected) p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e -p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e -p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e -p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - p l a c e h o l d e r t e x t g o e s h e r e - about this site • advertise on this site • contact us • privacy policy • support this site All logos and trademarks in this site are property of their respective owner.
