Posted by Eran on 23/12/2005 @ 18:38 Filed under: Too Silly for Supr.c.ilio.us We’ve all heard about tribe ’s recent spat with 2257 and irate users . Now it seems that instead of learning from tribe’s experience, MySpace is trying to emulate them. Barb writes : it appears that MySpace is blocking YouTube , not just embedded videos but all YouTube URLs and even any references to the YouTube service. Apparently MySpace hasn’t responded to any inquiries from YouTube staff or MySpace users who also use YouTube. Considering the overwhelming amount of strange and random multimedia crap I have seen embedded into MySpace profiles, I find this a little odd. Anybody know what’s up? Yeah, what’s up MySpace? Is it not enough that you denied your users of the Samy’s heroics ? How will they enjoy all this fantastic user-generated content ? How will they further mess up their profiles without embedded videos of hip-hopping sumo wrestlers ? How will America’s finest keep up with the teenagers of the world (12,000 links from myspace) if they cannot watch Korean karaoke online (16,000 clicks from myspace)? Earlier this week, MySpace decided to cut off YouTube videos from their site. (YouTube folks wrote about it on their blog, but later erased it.) You could not even use the URL of YouTube, a Sequoia funded video sharing company, inside of MySpace webpages. MySpace is a social network owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. MySpace Background
Myspace Background Image Help, How To, FAQ Join Chatcake - It's FREE! Myspace Guidebook - Myspace Background Help On this page you will learn how to set up a my space background image Setting up a background image for your myspace profile is relatively simple. People mistakenly think that to put an image into the background of your myspace profile you need to know HTML code. However, what this really is called is CSS code (Cascading Style Sheets). It is an "add on" to the HTML webpage programming language. The style of your myspace profile page (or any other webpage for that matter) is controlled by the CSS. This CSS code is usually pasted into your Profile body field on the "edit my profile" page. It's not necessary to copy and paste the code into your profile field, you can also put it into your other fields (interests, music etc), it does not matter. How to copy and paste the CSS code into your profile is explained below but first lets take a quick look at WHAT to paste into your profile to add a background image. Insert the following code into your profile to add a background image body{ background-image:url(http://www.chatcake.com/chatcake-logo.gif);}table,tr,td{ background-color:transparent;}</style In the code above, we're concerned with this line of code: background-image:url( http://www.chatcake.com/chatcake-logo.gif ); Note, it is very important to keep all the brackets and the rest of code syntax in place. For example, when you open a bracket {, it must be closed }, as shown in the code above. What this code does is it puts an image specified by the url (what you see after the "background-image:url", in red) into your myspace profile background. The picture has to be available online, you don't have to upload it. Simply find any image on any website, and right-click on it, then go to Properties on the pop-up menu, and you will be able to grab the URL for that image from there. In this example I use the chatcake logo image located on our server. You need to replace it with your own URL with the desired background image. The second part of the code makes all tables on your profile page transparent. That means that the background will show through any areas where there is information about you. If the part of the code where it says table,tr,td { ... } wasn't specified, your background image would only show in the very background, behind the text and other information about you. Usually that way your profile information will be more visible, and that is, in my opinion better to omit that part. But I am showing it to you just in case you need your profile background image to show through the rest of the page. Try not including that part of the code, save your profile, and see the difference that it makes. Remember, practice is the key to a good profile here. With time you will learn how to modify the rest of your profile with ease. Hopefully you will be able to find a cool background for myspace. Good luck. Myspace is undoubtedly one of the most wide spread community sites online so we will take the mechanics of myspace to demonstrate how a profile can be decorated with html code, music videos and more. Simply select the topic of interest from the list of options above. You will learn how to add video and music codes to your existing profile layout and other tricks. This page has been created due to a heavy demand in knowledge for editing profiles on increasingly popular websites such as chatcake ( chatcake ), myspace , friendster, faces, hi5, yourvoid, xanga and others. As long as the site supports direct CSS/HTML code manipulation you will find information on this site useful for decorating your profile for that site. The "blackout" on this page that started on the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death, is not a mistake or a hacker's plot, it is one reaction to what we feel is a lack of real attention being paid to the current global condition. We're tired of beating around the bush, being too nice and missing the point. Music is just one piece of a puzzle leading to a better world, an art form that can bring out our hidden selves, make us lose our inhibitions and cut to the truth. Consider this story: We were all at this music industry party, various big-wigs and small-wigs from all over the country were in attendance, it was thrown by one guy who was getting to be a big deal at a prestigious label, and everyone was kissing everyone's ass. (the no nonsense "ass-kissing-as-an-art-form" sort of ass kissing. Finally at the end of the night when most everyone had gone, a song came on the stereo while we were sitting around with this "getting to be a big deal" guy and his pucker from kissing ass turned into a smile. For 30 seconds he wasn't trying to schmooze us, wasn't trying to prove how cool he was, he was finally being honest with us and himself, and the only thing that had changed was paying attention to the music. This is great, yet simultaneously infuriating. What we've learned over the years is that to get affection from those in power, you have to be an ass. And this is the prime reason why the starving starve and the oppressed suffer. They're just trying to live. They are trying to listen to the music. That is just an example and the music industry is just one part, and an exceedingly insignificant part compared to war, starvation or natural disaster. But if civilization collapsed tomorrow and the world, as we know it, was to end, there would still be music. If the first part is paying attention to music, the rest is paying attention to theworld. When you talk about things like ending war, stopping suffering anderadicating hunger, people say you're dreamers, but we're not the only ones... Iloveyouguys. No joke. You're all amazing. Happy New Year. <3 Senator Jan 1, 2006 11:41 AM I am so proud that I know you guys. Maybe not personally really, though St. Louis shows with you guys are the best, and Warped Tour was RIDICULOUSLY amazing at the LOU, but this page. Your music. I swear. I am in love all over again. The first time I saw J-Rise was 28 June 2004 with Ludo, Anything But Joey, and Psycho Dad. I think at the show you all saw a man being beaten by a policeman. One of you said "Lets take all the negative energy from the outside world, lets take it all and turn into something good. Something good-right here." Or pretty much something that that effect. I have taken those words and have flown. With so much injustice, anger, hatred, everything in the world, music has been such an incredible outlet. Some use it as an escape and some use it as a way to fight back. I use them for both. Music is INCREDIBLE for the power it has. Your Myspace page says it well enough. The songs you guys are putting out are incredible and absolutely breathtaking. And you guys...as cliche as this sounds...get it. And all I really can say to you all is... thank you. this time in silence, this time i win Jan 1, 2006 10:05 AM hey i think you guys played up here in alaska not to long ago well anyway if you did i was there- at bitoz IM GREEN Jan 1, 2006 09:54 AM how u doing Nick Jan 1, 2006 03:20 AM Happy new year! Think about this... 1. At least 2 people in this world LOVE you so much they would DIE for you. 2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way. 3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you. 4. A SMILE from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you. 5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep. 6. You mean the world to someone. 7. If not for you, someone may not be living. 8. You are special&unique. 9. Someone that you don't even know exists, loves you. 10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it. 11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world. 12. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you BELIEVE in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it. 13. Always remember the compliments you received. FORGET about the rude remarks. 14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know. 15. If you have a GREAT FRIEND, take the time to let them know that they are great. add this as a comment to ten of ur friends....
