"It's also about hanging on to my remaining shreds of sanity and the blue sky that comes the day after a terrible storm," he adds, "and it's a love letter to life itself, in all its beautiful, horrible glory." A homemade epic, BLINKING LIGHTS is an imaginative, emotional reflection on the condition of living, recorded mostly in Everett's Los Angeles basement over a period of several years. Sprawling over it's two discs are songs about faith, responsibility, growing up, dignity, disappointment, comfort, hope and renewal. It's the most personal eels album since 1998's ELECTRO-SHOCK BLUES. That album dealt with the nearly simultaneous suicide of Everett's sister and terminal illness of his mother, from the subjects' points of view. This album finds him a few years down the line, now battling some of the family demons himself, with the after effects of past tragedies becoming more of a personal issue in his adult life, sometimes fearlessly autobiographical, and other times built around the related stories of others. Echoes of Everett's Virginia youth are heard during a fever-dreamed summer night's picnic inside the Civil War-era graveyard near his family's house ("In The Yard, Behind The Church), while the engineer of a dying travel industry laments the long gone Washington & Old Dominion Railroad that once ran nearby ("Railroad Man"). "I recently took a train trip across America," Everett says, "and it was clear that these are the dying days of rail travel. I got friendly with some of the old men who still work on the trains and I noticed that I had a similar sense of displacement in today's music industry." Read more... Does anyone know how to have videos and music play at seperate times following each other on their profile page? I have a movie preview in my "MOVIES" section that I would like to have play first followed by the music listed on my profile. Anybody know how to make this happen? My page is http://www.myspace.com/teezspace. And why have you posted this same question FOUR times? No-ones gonna answer your question quicker when they think you're an idiot. Back to top wolviey2g Posts: 5 Posted: Wednesday 07th December 10:42pm Post subject: Ok, so how do I do this? What do I need to do to get started? I put so many posts because it looks like a lot of posts don't get answered even if they put only one post. Plus I wanted to fit everything in the subject line. I don't deserve to be treated like that though. Just because someone doesn't know or fully understand every little thing about something doesn't make them an idiot. I'm sure there's plenty of things in the world that you CANNOT do to someone else's idea of satisfactory criteria, but they shouldn't knock you for it. If you looked at my page what you described doesn't even help me. That's why I left the URL to my page, so that someone would look at it and be able to help me. I asked how do you play a video and then follow it with a song (not another video) from the Myspace Music selection. So should I start being a prick now to you like you were to me? Why do people have to knock each other down all the time rather than build each other up? Jeez, let me go take out my e-mail address from the original post just so I don't get any hate mail. You didn't search, you posted the same question in 4 new seperate topics, you were given 2 seperate answers that will work, and you still don't get it. What do you want us to do, give you a cookie? Being new to websites has nothing to do with any of this, it's as simple as following instructions. As I said, you can't do what you want with 2 seperate players. But poet4l2002 and I offered you alternatives, they are your only options. Theyve been called everything from soulful to ferocious, and they cover all points in between. A duo of musicians drawing from varied musical backgrounds, these boys surround themselves with a talented roster of musicians and take an audience for a musical trip into DOWNRIGHT country (where nothing is quite as it seems). Their sound combines elements of funk, psychedelic rock, wild improv and soul music to create a unique blend that goes down smooth and always satisfies. The band has been regularly working around the southeastern circuit since 1999. Various instrumental combinations are used at every DOWNRIGHT show, such as guitars, organs, string bass, electric pianos, theremin, drums, horns, you name it!Just listen to either of their two CDs or their 2004 release THE BLING BLING DVD to get a taste of the bands style. At a typical DOWNRIGHT show you will see hard-core fans (members of the DOWNRIGHT MOVEMENT) singing along with their favorite tunes. Perennial favorites include Nature Girl, Fishbowl, (DOWNRIGHT, 2000) Crunchy Crunchy Popcorn and Drinking the Dregs (Hidden Agenda, 2002) Cop on a Bike and Bling Bling ( Bling Bling, 2004).Always keeping things fresh and original, the band has struck off down the road to a successful future. They are constantly writing and recording new material. Some people say that they drink entirely too much coffee. Bootleg recordings of live performances are starting to circulate on the web and elsewhere. They just finished a successful tour of the northeast, a new CD is in the works for the fall of 2005, and the website is regularly updated with audio and video treats for the fans. William Barnes Oct 9, 2005 07:47 PM If every band had as much talent in their little finger as these guys have in their big toe, then today's music wouldn't suck so bad. hey ya'll had fun at workplay, let's do it agin, where can I get recordings of ya'll / Jay and the computer? Lori Oct 6, 2005 10:21 AM If you ever wanna get married, get this exquisite band to play the reception. I know they are playing at mine. If they were to allow it, I would be one of their groupies!! :) Watch out!! The Stop Sep 23, 2005 10:20 AM Downright is a great group of guys! Do yourself a favor and go see them if you haven't been fortunate enough yet to do so. Birmingham represent! lol Beck Sep 23, 2005 10:12 AM Downright is by far one of my biggest local influences. They were funkin out out when I was still just learning the basics... If you haven't heard them you'd be doing yourself and everyone you know a disservice by not checkin' them out and spreading the word. Steve and Matt are great guys. Get to know there music and you will be saved! Add Comment About | FAQ | Terms | Privacy | Safety Tips | Contact Myspace | Promote! | Advertise ©2003-2006 MySpace.com All Rights Reserved.
