I started playing guitar in seventh grade. Cut my teeth on Metallica and the up and coming grunge stuff, (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam) whatever Guitar World magazine was tabbing out in the early nineties. Then I got caught smoking weed a bunch of times freshman year of high school and by the time I got off grounding all my friends were hippies, or at least doing there best to look like them. So black jeans became corduroys, NIN albums became Phish bootlegs, and I tried to relearn everything I didn't pay attention to in my guitar lessons and become Trey Anastasio. Mostly just got high alot, though. After high school I went to SIU Edwardsville, Carbondale's ugly sister to the west. More drugs. Was told by SIUE's head of jazz guitar not to bother with his program or waste his time. This is a guy who bills himself as a virtuoso. Easy, buddy. At the end of my freshman year I met a lunatic named Matt Meinert at a party. I played along while he sang the likes of John Prine, Lowell George, and Bob Dylan, and we clicked. The next year we got a house together and started playing gigs around town, though I had never played lead guitar, I quickly got my trial by fire and came out alright. We played together for three years and several different projects, and pulled off some impressive gigs in and around St. Louis, but almost nothing recorded, aside from a few home videos and random 4-track ramblings. Then we got caught growing uh, indoor vegetables, and both had to move out of town. He went to Springfield, Il, I went back to Chicago. I quickly realized that being a decent young guitar player in a small town means jack shit in Chicago, where there are 17 year olds that can play circles around me, so I sort of put it down for a while, and got back into hip hop. Now I know that sounds lame and white boyish, but to any Chicagoan around my age that knows about the Jukebox, I need not say more. For those who don't, the Jukebox was a music video station in the late 80's early 90's that you could only get if you wedged your TV dial (yes it had to be a dial) between channel 23 and 24. Most of what they played was early hip hop, so without realizing it, I had a pipeline to what most little white kids didn't and still don't: GOOD hip hop. Point being, I hooked back up with Ben Schlitz, a high school buddy who was studying art in Milwaukee and rapping on the side. We collaborated on one of his art projects that incorporated music, and a partnership was born. Soon after, I helped him build his studio and since, he's released three hip hop albums, two of which I was blessed to be a part of. My musical itch came back, and I signed up at the Bloom School of Jazz in downtown Chicago at age 23. David Bloom is a lot of things, good and not so great, but he is a fantastic teacher and group leader. At the school, I found myself part of an 8 piece jazz combo performing original tunes at legendary places like The Green Mill and the Jazz Showcase. Whether I deserved it or not, it was an amazing experience. At the same time I started a neighborhood band with some friends, including drummer Mike Barry. Mike and I stuck together through a funk/disco group that went through bass players like toilet paper, and eventually morphed into a country/folk/pop type deal that found me behind a microphone for the first time ever, less than a year ago. That group has since dissolved but since nobody threw a bottle at me for ruining their hearing, I decided to keep singing, and I've decided through all the influences I've picked up since coming back to Chicago, be it jazz, hip hop, house, that I want to sing the stuff I was playing with Matt Meinert, the person who got me on stage in the first place. So for now, that's what I'm doing. Matt Gandurski's Friend Space Matt Gandurski has 100 friends. You Are Here MyGen.co.uk Tutorials Hidefriendscomments Sponsored Links Hiding Friends And/Or Comments. A common question in the forum is "How do I hide my friends/comments?" Well actually it's quite simple, just use the codes below! To hide just your friends , use this code: <style type="text/css"td.text td.text table table table, td.text td.text table br, td.text td.text table .orangetext15, td.text td.text .redlink, td.text td.text span.btext {display:none;}td.text td.text table {background-color:transparent;}td.text td.text table td, td.text td.text table {height:0;padding:0;border:0;}td.text td.text table table td {padding:3;}td.text td.text table table br {display:inline;}</style This will leave a small box where the old friends list was. Unfortunately this is unavoidable! To hide just your comments , put this code at the very end of your 'Who I'd Like To Meet' section: <div style="position:relative; height:400px; overflow:hidden; border:0px;"<table<tr<td<table<tr<td You may need to adjust the 400px bit, incase your friends space is slightly bigger/smaller than normal. To hide both your friends and comments , put this code at the very end of your 'Who I'd Like To Meet' section: <div style="display:none" <table<tr<td<table<tr<td Many thanks to BBZ . cool background for myspace.
Myspace Background Image Help, How To, FAQ Join Chatcake - It's FREE! Myspace Guidebook - Myspace Background Help On this page you will learn how to set up a my space background image Setting up a background image for your myspace profile is relatively simple. People mistakenly think that to put an image into the background of your myspace profile you need to know HTML code. However, what this really is called is CSS code (Cascading Style Sheets). It is an "add on" to the HTML webpage programming language. The style of your myspace profile page (or any other webpage for that matter) is controlled by the CSS. This CSS code is usually pasted into your Profile body field on the "edit my profile" page. It's not necessary to copy and paste the code into your profile field, you can also put it into your other fields (interests, music etc), it does not matter. How to copy and paste the CSS code into your profile is explained below but first lets take a quick look at WHAT to paste into your profile to add a background image. Insert the following code into your profile to add a background image body{ background-image:url(http://www.chatcake.com/chatcake-logo.gif);}table,tr,td{ background-color:transparent;}</style In the code above, we're concerned with this line of code: background-image:url( http://www.chatcake.com/chatcake-logo.gif ); Note, it is very important to keep all the brackets and the rest of code syntax in place. For example, when you open a bracket {, it must be closed }, as shown in the code above. What this code does is it puts an image specified by the url (what you see after the "background-image:url", in red) into your myspace profile background. The picture has to be available online, you don't have to upload it. Simply find any image on any website, and right-click on it, then go to Properties on the pop-up menu, and you will be able to grab the URL for that image from there. In this example I use the chatcake logo image located on our server. You need to replace it with your own URL with the desired background image. The second part of the code makes all tables on your profile page transparent. That means that the background will show through any areas where there is information about you. If the part of the code where it says table,tr,td { ... } wasn't specified, your background image would only show in the very background, behind the text and other information about you. Usually that way your profile information will be more visible, and that is, in my opinion better to omit that part. But I am showing it to you just in case you need your profile background image to show through the rest of the page. Try not including that part of the code, save your profile, and see the difference that it makes. Remember, practice is the key to a good profile here. With time you will learn how to modify the rest of your profile with ease. Hopefully you will be able to find a cool background for myspace. Good luck. Myspace is undoubtedly one of the most wide spread community sites online so we will take the mechanics of myspace to demonstrate how a profile can be decorated with html code, music videos and more. Simply select the topic of interest from the list of options above. You will learn how to add video and music codes to your existing profile layout and other tricks. This page has been created due to a heavy demand in knowledge for editing profiles on increasingly popular websites such as chatcake ( chatcake ), myspace , friendster, faces, hi5, yourvoid, xanga and others. As long as the site supports direct CSS/HTML code manipulation you will find information on this site useful for decorating your profile for that site. "It's also about hanging on to my remaining shreds of sanity and the blue sky that comes the day after a terrible storm," he adds, "and it's a love letter to life itself, in all its beautiful, horrible glory." A homemade epic, BLINKING LIGHTS is an imaginative, emotional reflection on the condition of living, recorded mostly in Everett's Los Angeles basement over a period of several years. Sprawling over it's two discs are songs about faith, responsibility, growing up, dignity, disappointment, comfort, hope and renewal. It's the most personal eels album since 1998's ELECTRO-SHOCK BLUES. That album dealt with the nearly simultaneous suicide of Everett's sister and terminal illness of his mother, from the subjects' points of view. This album finds him a few years down the line, now battling some of the family demons himself, with the after effects of past tragedies becoming more of a personal issue in his adult life, sometimes fearlessly autobiographical, and other times built around the related stories of others. Echoes of Everett's Virginia youth are heard during a fever-dreamed summer night's picnic inside the Civil War-era graveyard near his family's house ("In The Yard, Behind The Church), while the engineer of a dying travel industry laments the long gone Washington & Old Dominion Railroad that once ran nearby ("Railroad Man"). "I recently took a train trip across America," Everett says, "and it was clear that these are the dying days of rail travel. I got friendly with some of the old men who still work on the trains and I noticed that I had a similar sense of displacement in today's music industry." Read more...
